LED Backlit Reflectors

Backlighting the front and rear reflectors adds nighttime conspicuity by making your bike more visible from the side. Most 12 volt strip leds can be cut into smaller strips of 3. Two groups of three LEDs fit nicely behind K bike reflectors.

1 - Carefully pry the reflector out of it's plastic mounting bracket.

2 - Locate where the LEDs will reside and use a Dermel to cut holes for them.

3 - Solder wires to the positive and negative terminals of the strip.

4 - Drills hole in the mounting bracket for the wire to pass through.

5 - Glue it back together.

These pictures are a little blurry due to using a point and shoot camera at night.

On my K bikes I use waterproof micro relays to make each side's flash off when the turn signal flashes on so they serve as side LED turn signals as well as side running lights.
