This was my very first K bike that I bought in 1996. After test riding one back in 1987 I'd put it on my "bucket list" to ride a K75S the length of the California coast on Highway 1. In 1996 I was working in San Francisco and got serious about fulfilling this hankering.

I spent a few weeks watching the local Craig's Lists but ended up buying this one from a dealer in San Francisco. It had 35k on it but was in excellent condition and looked like new.

A few weeks later I rode it down to a friend's house in LA, spent the night and then spent four days riding it all of the way up the coast to Astoria and then home to Seattle.

That was back before the advent of digital cameras and even scanners weren't that great back then so I only have a couple of pictures from that ride. I need to dig out my photos from that trip and scan them in someday.

I crashed and totaled it a few months later.  Fortunately I only banged up one of my knees a little and spent six weeks on crutches. Then I gave up riding for a while since I had lots of other hobbies and riding wasn't a big deal to me at the time.
