K1100LT/K75RT Electric Windscreen Removal

To access the instrument cluster or simplify turn signal/horn access it is helpful to remove the electric windscreen.  The entire assembly can be removed as one unit so there is no need to remove the windscreen from the "arms" that support it.

1 - Remove the six screws from the back side of the fairing.

2 - Remove the six screws around the perimeter of the windscreen base plate on the front of the fairing.

3 - The windscreen assembly can now be lifted out and removed. However, there is a connector for the windscreen motor on the right hand side that must be disconnected.  It's easiest to have a helper hold up the windscreen assembly while you do this but it's also possible to do it singlehandedly.

If you're doing this to get the instrument cluster off then you need to remove the four 5mm Allen head machine screws that hold the instrument cluster in place. The wiring harness connector for the cluster is held in place by a machine screw with a 3mm Allen head.

While you have the windscreen assembly off it's a good idea to lube the silver shafts that it travels on with some silicone spray lubricant.  Silicone is best for this as it attracts less dust than other lubricants.
